Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Git hosting service at
git-staging.halogenos.org, operated by Simão Gomes Viana (see Legal Notice).
1. Scope and nature of the service
The service provides Git repository hosting for the halogenOS project. It is operated privately and non-commercially, free of charge, and without any guarantee of availability. Accounts are granted at the operator’s discretion; there is no entitlement to an account or to the continued provision of the service.
Access requires an account on the halogenOS single sign-on at
sso.halogenos.org. Repositories on this instance are
public: everything you upload can be read, cloned and
redistributed by anyone.
2. Your account
Keep your credentials and access tokens confidential, and report any suspected compromise to legal@halogenos.org. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account. Do not share an account, and do not attempt to gain access to areas or data that are not yours.
3. Your content
You retain all rights in the content you upload. By uploading it you grant the operator the non-exclusive, royalty-free right to store, reproduce and make it publicly accessible to the extent required to operate the service.
You are responsible for ensuring that you hold the necessary rights to everything you upload and that publishing it breaches neither third-party rights nor applicable law. Where you distribute software under an open-source licence, include that licence in the repository.
4. Acceptable use
The following are prohibited:
- Content that is illegal under German or Union law — in particular content infringing copyright, trade mark or personality rights; depictions of child sexual abuse; incitement to hatred; and content glorifying or instructing in violence.
- Malware, botnet infrastructure, phishing content, and material intended to attack or compromise third-party systems. Security research artefacts such as proof-of-concept exploits are permitted where clearly labelled and lawful.
- Using the service as generic file storage, a content delivery network, or for mining cryptocurrency.
- Automated access that impairs the service’s operation, including excessive cloning, scraping or API traffic.
- Attempts to circumvent access controls, quotas, or the security of the service or its infrastructure.
The operator applies these rules on becoming aware of a potential breach, whether through a report or otherwise. Every decision is taken by a person; no automated moderation is used. Depending on severity, the operator may remove or make content inaccessible, restrict repository visibility, or suspend or terminate an account.
5. Reporting content
If you believe content published here is unlawful or infringes your rights, report it by email to:
Please include the exact URL, an explanation of the problem, and a way to reach you. Reports are reviewed by a person and acted on promptly where justified, and you will be told the outcome if you have given contact details.
Note that this service is not an open hosting platform: accounts are not open to registration and are created only by the operator, so what is published here is the project’s own content rather than material stored on behalf of third parties.
6. Availability, backups and deletion
The service is provided “as is”, with no promise of availability, and may be modified, suspended or discontinued at any time. Maintenance may cause interruptions without prior notice.
Keep your own copies. No guarantee is given that backups exist or that data can be restored. Git is distributed by design: a local clone is a complete copy of the repository, and you should treat it as your backup.
You may delete your repositories and request deletion of your account at any time via privacy@halogenos.org. Should the service be discontinued, reasonable notice will be given where circumstances permit, so that content can be retrieved.
7. Liability
The operator is liable without limitation for damage arising from injury to life, body or health, for intent and gross negligence, and under the Product Liability Act. In cases of slight negligence, liability arises only for breach of a material contractual obligation — one whose fulfilment makes proper performance possible in the first place and on which you may routinely rely — and is limited to the foreseeable damage typical of this kind of agreement. Any further liability is excluded.
Given that the service is provided free of charge and non-commercially, no liability is accepted for data loss, for the availability of the service, or for the content of the repositories hosted on it.
8. Changes to these terms
These terms may be amended where necessary, in particular to reflect changes in the law or in the service. The current version is always available at this address. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
9. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Where you are a consumer habitually resident in the EU, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
Should individual provisions be or become invalid, the validity of the remainder is unaffected.
